The guaranteed first place prize is €1,000,000 and many interested poker players are on its way to take a seat.

Originally the venue of the tournament was planned to be a purposefully built glass palace however, it never went according to planned. In this regard, the tournament will take place in the ballroom at the Hyatt next door to the casino. There were 389 Main Event players who tried to fit in the limited space even with the hangover being experienced from the party hosted by PokerStars, they still managed to get down to work.

Day 1b is usually where you can find the faces of big-name pros, however in this tournament; the faces that are usually seen on day1b are now in day 1a. The following are among the pros who decided to play today Katja Thater, Ben Kang, Tom McEvoy, Vicky Coren, Arnaud Mattern, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Michhael Keiner, VladZguba, George Danzer, and Johannes Steindl. Also in participation in the day 1a were Juha Helppi, Marc Naalden, Barny Boatman, and Pranz Bansi.

Poker author, commentator, radio show host, and professional Bernard Lee linked an agreement to represent Foxwoods. The deal brought together New England’s most prestigious poker venues and the area’s top media personality.

Chiaradio told reporters that Lee’s professionalism and personality showed that a relationship would benefit both parties. Lee will be a valuable asset in bringing more energy and excitement to top poker rooms. Lee has also a vast experience from his career in business, particularly in marketing and new business development. He was a former marketing and new business manager for Fortune 500 company. Foxwoods will sponsor Lee’s radio show and as he will represent the casino’s World Poker Tour (WPT) room.

Lee is expected to appear in marketing campaigns for Foxwoods for two years. Lee made his mark in the poker scene in 2005, when he took the 13th WSOP Main Event for $400,000. Foxwood found the perfect candidate in the person of Bernard Lee. Chiaradio said that Foxwood Casino Resort is the premiere gaming destination and Lee is the top poker personality so the relationship is a perfect match. Lee has crashed tournaments around the United States. The question now is whether other casinos will follow Foxwoods’ idea of signing up with Lee to find the best match.

Daniel Christopher Alaei was named the grand prize winner of the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker classic that ended this week. He had outdone the other 328 players who are on the field and take home an astounding $1.4 million in bag money.

He’s known specialty is the cash games in the NLHE wherein he amass a whopping $3.7 million dollars all through out his poker career. He owned 2 WSOP bracelets to be proud of and also had been successful in winning the $10,000 World Championship Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better tournament. He has a record of cashing in 18 events in the WSOP which gain him $1,533,917 take home pay.

During the very first day of the $15,000 buy-in tournament he joined the side tables where stakes are high and leave the first set of the proper tournament behind. He said, “I signed up to play and some guys were starting up a big cash game,” “So, I played in that over the tournament for the rest of the day.”

When the time for the final table to be played, Daniel came up with very competitive competitors on his table and that includes Josh Arieh, Faraz “The-Toilet” Jaka, Shawn Buchanan, Scotty Nguyen, and Stephen “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer.

Holder of five WSOP bracelets, Scotty Nguyen tried to play at his best but just ended up in the fifth place and not the title. He took home $249,976. Then he was commended by his colleagues and he thankfully replied:

“Everybody is a good player these days. You’ve got to respect that. All these young kids these days, they come in to play and they have nothing to fear. They have nothing to lose, only gain.”

The hardest part of the game for Alaei was when he was head to head with 2 time WSOP winner Josh Arieh. They played a good deal of cards before the final hand that decided it all appeared. Arieh holds 7 pockets and the flop is 10-2-5. He placed all his money on the pot post-flop. Then Alaei made a call with a 10, 8 card. Alaei won with the hand and Arieh went home $952,290 richer.

“It was not an easy call for me,” Alaei stated. “If he had a 10, I was pretty much dead.”

Daniel Alaei took home $1,428,430 for his winnings. He was asked about what it felt to win his first WPT title and he said, “This is great. I’ve wanted one of these for a while. I was one of my only friends who didn’t have one.”

A high Federal Bureau of Investigation officer emphasized that poker in the Internet is subject to deceit and manipulation.

Sawn Henry, FBI Assistant Director have written to Representative Spencer Bachus of Alabama as stated: “There are several ways to cheat at online poker, none of which are legal,”

“Technology exists to manipulate online poker games in that it would only take two or three players working in unison to defeat the other players who are not part of the team,”

Henry also stated. “The online poker vendors could detect this activity and put in place safeguards to discourage cheating, although it is unclear what the incentive would be for the vendor.”

The letter dated November 13 was released today at an enquiry on Internet gambling by Bachus, the top Republican on the House Financial Services Committee. It is presently being reviewed.

Committee Chairman Barney Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat, has put forward legislation to overturn the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). Government officials have been listening to point of views on behalf of and against online gambling at present and will consider if it can be regulated in the incoming future.

On today’s trial concerning the bill, many large gambling and technology institutions stated that illegal practices in the net are forbidden. Issues with regards to money laundering, gambling of minors and identity theft were not that common these days.

It has been the crusade of the Poker Players Alliance or the PPA to alleviate the sufferings of online poker players in the United States by passing up legislations to react against the current UIGEA bill. It’s been definitely a long time when the UIGEA was passed and has starved the American people on their rights to play poker online. This is due to the fact that this bill classifies poker as one of pure luck gambling kind which is not true because poker is a game of skill through and through.

At present people thought that they are getting what they wanted when the Democrats took over the House in 2006, however, what happened is not the direction they wish to take.

Today, a lot of people assumed that the House of Representatives would be the one to overthrow the UIGEA and will start on making the online poker industry legal and regulated plus making the side note of taxing the whole online gambling industry.

Even though Barney Franklin’s bill has more than enough cosponsors in Congress it has stopped. It only signifies that passing a bill to go against the UIGEA will take time and will not be easy.

But it was the relief of the PPA to gain the one more supporter in the person of New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez when he passed the Internet Poker and Games of Skill Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act.

This act is a great alternative if the UIGEA is concerned because it does not ban online poker operations but has the framework to make poker legal and regulated, same with other skill related online games.

The bill has made a lot clarification with regards to the current debate about online gambling. As an example this bill wanted to ask the government for the list of online gambling operations that are not registered so that they can enforce more authority upon them and it also uses the present development in technology in order to undermine the rampant gambling of underage people.

It will also aid in boosting the funding for gambling counseling and also permits the compilation of taxes from registered online poker operations. It will also assist in the explaining of the Wire Act to avoid illegitimate seizures of fund from happening in the future.

A poker group called Poker Players Alliance exists and has been trying hard to implement transformations in the poker environment in the United States especially in the Internet arena. Since the UIGEA has been submitted it has plainly wither the online poker options of the US people by classifying poker like any other variety of gambling which is not true because playing poker is more like a skill test than a luck one.

This time it seems like the revolution that poker players had been waiting for will materialize when the Democrats took the Congress over in 2006 but seems like they are not going in the right direction.

Loads of people think that the House of Representatives would be the one to start in bringing down the UIGEA and then will try to approve legal laws, regulations and taxations on the online poker industry along the way.

While, Barney Frank’s bill in the House has freeze even though it has over 50 cosponsors now, it has been clear that it will take a quantity of time for that bill to become a sensible contender for getting passed by the house.

In addition, New Jersey senator Robert Menendez initiated the Internet Poker and Games of Skill Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act at the same time much for the pleasure of the PPA.

As an option for a generally dishonest veto on online gambling along the lines of the UIGEA, this precise act builds a constitution for legalizing and regulating the game of online poker and other comparable games of skill that were banned under the UIGEA that was passed in 2006.

This bill may facilitate loads to clear out things about the continuing debate on online gambling. If passed through the house, this bill will assists in asking the government to get a list of all the unregistered online gambling operations in order for them to be regulated and then get the help of technology to thwart underage teens to gamble online.

It will also lend a hand in supplementing more funding for gambling counseling reasons and will also approve the collecting of taxes from online poker operations. It will also help clarify the issue of the Wire Act in line to stop the illegitimate fund seizures from occurring once again.

Believe it or not size does actually matter quite a bit in poker. It completely changes what you can do and how you can play. Some may tell you that your stack size should not affect your play, but that is just wrong. There is nothing you can do about it. Naturally if you have a bigger stack you are going to play different then if you have a smaller stack. Some parts of your game shouldn’t change, but a lot of it should.

The kind of game you are playing in has a lot to do with what you would do with different stack sizes. Your stack size matters a lot more in a tournament then it does in a ring game. When you start to get low and become a short stack it is time to make a move. It is hard to say when the right time is to make a move because you do not want to rush and give up your chips, but at the same time you need to have some impact in the bet you are making.

When it comes down to making a stand when you have a smaller stack, you don’t want everyone to call you. If you wait until you have almost nothing left then you are sure to lose, and even if you win you won’t win much. Your all in move needs to make an impact and make your opponents have to think about calling or not. You also don’t want to make a stand with a hand like Ace 4 or any other ace with a low card. The reason is because anyone that calls you is going to probably have an Ace with a higher kicker which gives you a very good chance of losing what is left of your stack. You want to make sure that you have live cards when you are risking your chips.

The more comfortable position to be in is the one with a large stack. A lot of people will say to you when you are the big stack that you should always call the all ins because you are the big stack. Well, that is just foolish and a quick way to lose your big stack. If you want to keep the lead and use all of those chips to your advantage then you will pick your spots.

When you are the chip leader or you have a large chip stack you should get into more hands and see more flops. The hard part however, is to balance that out with not getting into trouble. You want to give yourself the chance to take out more players and catch more hands; but you don’t want to start chasing and playing every hand down to the end. Just because you have a lot of chips don’t mean you can’t lose them faster then you got them.

Remember that poker is a crazy and unpredictable game. Your stack size can become another player’s stack size in the matter of one hand. If you are a small stack then you can easily become a large one. In order for that to happen the large one is probably going to end up becoming smaller. While your stack size should affect your play, you still must not make bad decisions just because of the size of your stack.
