Mike Sexton: The Time Has Come For the 2010 WSOP

When it comes to the world of poker, one of the most awaited events is the World Series of Poker (WSOP). For poker players it is their chance to gain both wealth and popularity.

As Sexton try to reminisce the things that took place 26 years ago, the first ever WSOP was held in 1984. It is something that turned his life perpetually. Even though he was a professional poker player for around 8 years, he settled in North Carolina and never engages in WSOP.

As he remembered, the champion during that time was Tom McEvoy. Who used to tell him that, “If you raise it, I’m going to set you all-in.” Then I said, “Well, I guess you’re setting me all-in then because I am raising it.”

Victory seems so greedy with Sexton that time, in which he waited for five years to win the battle in 1989, and that was the most memorable achievement of his life. Although not precise with his schedule for this year WSOP, he will surely take part in the $50,000 Eight-Game kickoff event that will be staged on May 28th . He will also join the Main Event on June 27th.

This years WSOP Tournament of Champions event will give a million dollar freeroll for 27 players and the winner will take home $500,000. There were five players who automatically enter the tournament, Annie Duke, Mike Matusow, Joe Cada, Barry Shulman, and Mike Sexton.

There were 20 players left that will be voted by the public that is desired by the ESPN. The final table will absolutely star-studded that will cater the best for television.

One quote that was once said by Stu Ungar to him was, “Anybody can win a poker tournament. Defending, that’s where it’s at.” He looks up onto it every time he thought of defending his title.
